In UP's Muzaffarnagar, warring buffaloes gore man to death

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 65-year-old farmer in Muzaffarnagar was gored to death while trying to stop two buffaloes from fighting each other on Wednesday morning. He was rushed to the district hospital, where he passed away while receiving treatment.

The incident took place in village Nirgajani, when Santosh Kumar was riding a buffalo cart en-route to his agricultural plot.

A buffalo coming from the opposite side attacked Santosh’s animal for reasons unknown. As they attacked each other, Santosh tried to separate the two animals, but his chest was caught between their horns, leaving him with severe injuries.

Locals took him to the district hospital, where he passed away. A family member then approached the local police station for a post mortem to be conducted. According to Bhopa police station SHO, M S Gil, “Santosh’s son asked us for post mortem. We’ve sent the body to the morgue.”

According to sources, under the farmer accident insurance scheme, families of farmers can avail compensation in case of accidental deaths.
