Incessant rains clog Satna dist

Bhopal: Bhopal: Incessant rains caused water logging and blockage of roads in Satna district on Monday. District hospital premises, too, was completely logged with water and patients were seen struggling.

Notably, during the 2016 flood here, situation became so severe that army had to be roped in. More than 1000 people were shifted to the relief camps then.



It started raining at around 1 pm on Monday in the district and within an hour the entire city seemed flooded, said sources. Water logging was seen at the district hospital premises, as well. The Satna-Rewa road was also flooded with rain water and several rivulets overflowed the culverts in the interior areas of the district, added sources.

Similarly, in Unchehra town, a bridge built to connect Sanjay Nagar and Naugaja Baba got washed away and a rivulet started overflowing the Mahadeva bridge near Unchehra, sources said.

Met officials have forecast heavy rain in the region in the next 24 hours, and issued a warning in this regard, said sources.

Though, the rain had slowed down by the night, district administration is keeping a close watch on the situation, sources said.
