Include Chandigarh in Punjab: SAD (Taksali) manifesto

AMRITSAR: The SAD (Taksali) manifesto released on Tuesday talked about having state’s own capital, i.e. including Chandigarh in Punjab , the right of the state on all of its river waters in accordance with the Riparian law and not allowing waters of the state to be given to any other state.

The manifesto was released by SAD (T) president Ranjit Singh Brahmpura in presence of its senior vice-president Rattan Singh Ajnala, secretary general Sewa Singh Sekhwan and general secretary Manmohan Singh Sathiala .

Later talking to mediapersons Brahmpura said suicides by farmers, unemployment of youth, drugs menace and sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib were important issues for the party. “Our party is committed to the improvement of fiscal health of the farmers who are committing suicides since they are not getting remunerative prices for their crops,” he said.

He claimed that even the Congress and BJP governments at the Centre had failed to implement Swaminathan report to give the farmers fair price of their crops. “Besides this, the unemployed youth are going abroad in search of jobs and studies because our respective governments have failed to generate enough jobs to accommodate them,” he maintained.

Replying to another query by media, SAD (T) secretary general Sekhwan said they would not seek support from any party or outfit, which had connection with SAD.
