Indore: Man held for raping stepdaughters

INDORE: Two sisters, aged 15 and 13, went to police on Friday with a horrific complaint of how they were raped by their stepfather and a cousin as their mother watched.

Khajrana police filed a case against the accused late at night and arrested the stepfather. The cousin is on the run.

Khajrana police station in-charge Preetam Singh Thakur told TOI that the girls were living with their grandparents in another district after their mother walked out of her marriage and moved in with another man in Indore .

She married him later and called her daughters over, too.

It wasn’t long before the rape began, they have told the police. “The elder girl said that her mother would watch her stepfather rape her. His cousin was then ‘allowed’ to rape her, too. And then, her younger sister also was raped by the stepfather,” said Singh.

The girls have told police that their mother and stepfather had threatened them with dire consequences if they spoke about the sexual assault to anyone. They suffered in silence. “But on Rakshabandhan, the elder girl confided in her aunt, who brought them to us,” said Singh.

“We have nabbed the stepfather and teams have been sent to arrest the second accused,” he added.
