Inmates in Tamil Nadu jail taking online Yoga classes to boost immunity

Coimbatore: In Tamil Nadu, the cases of corona are increasing day by day. In such a situation, everyone is being asked to increase immunity. Meanwhile, inmates in the Central Jails of Tamil Nadu are also engaged to deal with coronavirus and increase their immunity. All are currently taking yoga classes online. A group called Isha Yoga is organizing an online class for prisoners.

Isha Yoga Group wants the prisoners to keep themselves healthy and survive the corona outbreak.

Keeping in mind the request of Tamil Nadu Jail Department under the recently received information, Isha Yoga Center is engaged in conducting virtual classes for prisoners in almost all the central jails of the state from 28 July. The yoga teachers of Isha have been trained by the founder of the centre, Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev. Teachers are being told to be engaged in distributing online modules in Tamil to participants in Chennai, Vellore, Cuddalore, Tiruchirappalli, Salem and Palayamkottai.

In a recent release, it has been said that the jail department had requested to teach yoga to improve the physical and mental health of the prisoners. Online classes include Yoga Namaskar, Simha Kriya and Isha Kriya. A release issued also stated that 'Simha Kriya is a 3-minute yoga practice designed by Sadhguru and it strengthens the respiratory system by enhancing one's immune system and improving lung capacity. Thousands of prisoners of the state are benefiting from these classes.
