INX Media case: P. Chidambaram to remain in Tihar Jail till 3 October

New Delhi: In the CBI case related to INX Media Fraud, Rouse Avenue court has extended the judicial custody of P. Chidambaram till 3 October. Chidambaram will have to stay in Tihar jail for 14 days. His bail is scheduled to be heard on 23rd in the High Court. Chidambaram is in Tihar Jail since 5 September.

The court has allowed Chidambaram to give a letter to the PNB bank manager to get the bank statement.

Significantly, Chidambaram's 14-day judicial custody was ending today. At the same time, Chidambaram was holding regular bail in the Delhi High Court, on which the High Court had issued a notice to the CBI recently and sought answers. Earlier, he challenged the judicial custody order given by Special CBI Justice Ajay Kumar Kuhar. Former Finance Minister Chidambaram was produced before the court, where Special CBI Judge Kuhar sent him to Tihar for 14 days in custody.

The court also accepted the application filed by Chidambaram. These included a citation for Z-class security, a separate cell with bathroom and permission for medicines. He also demanded a western-style toilet (English toilet) in the jail. At the same time, former finance minister P Chidambaram received a big blow from the top court in the ED case. The court rejected Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea.
