IPS officer viral video: Ujjain Lokayukta to conduct probe
BHOPAL: Lokayukta Justice N K Gupta has transferred investigation related to the viral video against IPS officer V Madhu Kumar to the Ujjain unit. Shailendra Singh Chouhan, SP-Special police establishment (SPE), will handle the probe.
The video purportedly shows the 1991-batch IPS officer taking 'envelopes' from police personnel.
Madhu Kumar was shifted from the post of state transport commissioner to the police headquarters in Bhopal after the video went viral on.
Last Monday, Justice N K Gupta had taken suo motu cognizance of media reports on the video and initiated a probe.
Cops seen in the video will be summoned
The footage was of a rest house in Agar Malwa area, so the case has been given to the Ujjain SP. The officer and other policemen seen in the video will be summoned to give their statements,” said a senior Lokayukta official. It’s said that the person who shot the video has been identified.

The video is apparently from 2016, when Madhu Kumar was IG of Police, Ujjain range. A camera hidden in a wall clock was apparently used to shoot the 5-minute footage, say sources.
A week ago, this clip suddenly popped up on WhatsApp numbers of several mediapersons and police officers from ‘masked numbers’ that had US or Dubai country codes, said sources.
