Is This Heaven? Badrinath Received Snowfall And It Looks Dreamy Right Now

While we in Delhi-NCR are waiting desperately for winters to arrive, in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand places like Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri received snowfall on November 7. According to the meteorological department, light rain in the lower regions caused the temperatures to drop at various places in the state.

The famous temples of Badrinath in Chamoli district and Yamunotri and Gangotri in Uttarkashi received snowfall and the images from the state are breathtaking.

ANI posted the pictures of the temple, covered completely in snow and looking breathtaking. Other images of the place would make you want to pack your bags right now and head to the hill station. However the temple in Badrinath will close from November 17 for the winter season.

The snowfall in the state occurred at places that are at at a height of 3,500 metres and above. “There is a western disturbance over Uttarakhand. As a result, snowfall occurred in the higher reaches, including Char Dham. Other parts of Uttarakhand received light to moderate rainfall,” TOI quoted Bikram Singh, director of regional meteorological centre as saying.

According to Singh Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts, will be receiving light showers till Friday.

The snow and rainfall in Uttarakhand led to a dip in mercury and the maximum temperature was at least 3-4 degrees Celsius below normal.

“Maximum temperatures have dropped by a few notches. However, the temperatures will start rising and reach normal level from Saturday onwards,” Singh reportedly said.

This was the first snowfall for several high altitude places in Uttarkashi district including Dharali, Harsil, Mukhba and Kharsali.

The tour operators and the priest community were nothing but joyous about the early snowfall. President of Gangotri temple committee, Suresh Semwal and the President of Uttarkashi hotel association Shailendra Matuda said that the snowfall will prove to be a boost to winter tourism.
