Izzatnagar railway station gets a makeover! See pictures of the exceptional transformation

New Delhi: It seems like the days of old, dirty, dilapidated railway stations are coming to an end. Indian Railways is working on upgrading and transforming railway stations to ensure passengers have the most comfortable experience. Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) will invest Rs 7,500 crore this year for the redevelopment of 50 railway stations across India.

Several railway stations across the country such as Jaipur, Manduadih, Siliguri Junction, New Delhi, Hojai, Mathura Junction, Tirupati etc have already been upgraded and redeveloped and Railways is planning to upgrade nearly 70 railway stations across the country by the end of this financial year.

Recently Izzatnagar railway station which serves Bareilly city got a makeover. The pictures might make you think that it is a hotel or resort. The station underwent an exceptional transformation.

Worth mentioning here is that in the past few years several railway stations have developed. With facilities like premium lounges, escalators, lifts, vending machines, food courts, retiring rooms, LED lighting, LCD display panels and more, stations now aim to provide airport-like facilities to passengers.

Just recently, Varanasi's Manduadih railway station was transformed completely. The newly transformed station has a spacious waiting area, circulating area,  booking/reservation office, cafeteria, food court, waiting rooms and more. The station looks nothing less than an airport.
