Jalna: Industrialists, town planning official booked for cheating, forgery

Aurangabad: Six leading businessmen and industrialists , including a woman, from neighbouring Jalna district along with a town planning official have been booked on charges of cheating and forgery .

An offence against the suspects has been registered with Sadar Bazar police station. Police informed that based on directives of chief judicial magistrate, Jalna, the offence against the suspects was registered.

As per the complaint lodged by 52-year-old farmer Prakash Katkar, a resident of Hanuman Ghat, his prime piece of land is situated in gat number 173.

The complainant has stated that as per the development plan (DP), 15-metre-wide road is passing from border of gat number 172, 173 and 174. As per norms, the land sizing 7.5m each from the two gat numbers should have been acquired for the road.

Katkar said that the suspects in connivance with the town planning official allegedly forged the records and prepared a DP plan on December 22, 2016, showing that the road is passing from gat number 174.

After objections were raised, the layout drawn on the land was stayed by the authorities concerned on June 25, 2018. Later, the farmer tried to lodge a complaint with the police, but in vain.

After all his pleas fell on deaf ears, the farmer moved court seeking directives for the police to register an FIR. Accordingly, the order was passed by court and an offence was registered.
