Jammu and Kashmir: North India's first biotech park to be ready before 2021

Jammu: Many things are stalled due to the Corona epidemic. The first biotech park of North India will be prepared before February 2021 at Valley Phase 3 of Kathua in Jammu division. It is being set up on 10.50 acres of land. Although the work of this park was to be completed in September 2020, it has been delayed during the corona.

Now strict orders have been given to complete it by the beginning of next year.

While this biotech park will carry out research on biodiversity, medicinal and aromatic plants of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, it will also promote green category businesses. From the Kandi areas of Park Jammu division to Bhadarwah, Bani, Basohli and Kishtwar, the climatic yields of medicinal plants will be increased and farmers will get better income apart from traditional farming. Work has already been started by IIIM, Jammu to promote the entrepreneurial idea.

In addition to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, this biotech park is going to become a big help for other states including Himachal, Punjab and other states. Its work was started on February 10, 2019, following the personal interest in the project of Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh. In this, civil works have reached the last stage. After the park is ready, scientists will also be able to do research here.
