Jewellery shop gutted in Mapusa

SALIGAO: A jewellery shop in the Mapusa municipal market was entirely gutted in a fire that broke out on Monday afternoon.


Mapusa fire service personnel received a call at 1.59pm after people saw smoke emanating from the jewellery shop. A team of fire personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

The items gutted in the fire include gold, silver and some furniture. The shop owner, Uday Nagvekar, told fire station officials that the estimated loss suffered was Rs 3 lakh.
