Jharkhand: Girl raped for two-years on pretext of marriage, forced to undergo repeated abortion

Lohardaga: There seems to be no let-up in sexual crimes against women. In a shocking incident, a girl was repeatedly raped by a man on the pretext of marriage in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand. 

Not only she was raped for two years, but the accused also forced the woman to undergo repeated abortion.

According to a report in News18 online, the crime took place in Senha police station area of the district. Meanwhile, the survivor has filed a complaint against the accused identified as Ajit Oraon.

The accused, a resident of Shivrajpur village under Ghaghra police station, befriended the girl when she was pursuing her studies in the Senha area. 

A native of Kuru block in Lohardaga, the girl was staying at her maternal grandmother's place. The accused Ajit befriended her promising to help her in her studies. 

During the period of their friendship, the two got physical and Ajit promised to marry the victim. When the girl became pregnant, the accused forced her for abortion by giving her some pills.  

This went on for some time and the girl again became pregnant and Ajit again forced to undergo an abortion. Finally, the accused refused to marry the survivor. 

The girl then approached the police narrating her ordeal. Police have filed a case of rape and are probing the matter.  

Accused absconding

Police say they have raided several places to arrest the accused but he is still absconding. "We have registered a case on the complaint of the victim and are probing the allegations. We are trying to arrest the accused but he is still on the run. We will soon arrest him. The girl has been sent for medical examination," said Virendra Ekka, Senha Station House Officer (SHO).
