Jind youth alleges torture in Indonesia

JIND: A native of Jind district , stranded in Indonesia , has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home and external affairs ministries on social media to save him. In a video, which went viral on Friday, he was seen lamenting on his miserable condition while being held captive in Indonesia.

After seeing the video, his kin rushed to the district administration and made an appeal to bring him back.

While recording the video, Bheem Singh, a native of Dhadarth village of Jind, said, "I came into contact with a woman on Facebook after which I started chatting with her. Gradually, we became good friends. Two months ago, I went to Indonesia to meet the woman who said her son was injured and asked money for his treatment. I deposited Rs 2 lakh in her account but she again asked for money."

"Now, I am being tortured by the woman and forced to drink toilet water. I am also injected with intoxicants continuously. She even tried to severe my genitals and is trying to force me to embrace Islam. As I declined to convert, she has stopped giving me food," he alleged in the video.

Bheem's family members told police that he went to Indonesia two months ago on a tourist visa and had sought Rs 50,000 for visa and other formalities on August 24.

The family members said they transferred the money to him after selling their property.

Acting on their complaint, Jind city magistrate Dalbir Singh said the issue had been brought to the notice to the Union home ministry for further action.
