JNU's Second March to Parliament: Students Unite on Saturday – #SavePublicEducation

JNUSU is once again calling the student and teacher fraternity and all the concerned citizenry to come together against the state arbitrariness. The police brutality on 18th November was one of the darkest days in the country’s history of student activism.

However, it has emboldened students to protest staunchly once again despite all sabotage by the Indian Government. On 23rd November, Saturday, JNUSU has called to join the Massive Citizen’s March from Mandi House to Parliament.

It will start at 11 am. Students are not at all going to step down from their demands and this time demanding for JNU VC resignation as he has not been appearing in public to address the student’s concern.

They are protesting against the New Education Policy and want to ensure equitable and affordable education for all. They are also protesting against fellowship cut, self-financing, HEFA loans and profiteering in different universities and institutions like JNU, IIT, DU, and other schools and colleges.

However, on 20th November JNUSU with other student councillors met MHRD appointed High Power Committee. The Committee patiently discussed the student’s demands and urged to bring normalcy in JNU, but the meeting has appeared with no substantial conclusion. JNU Vice-Chancellor was not present at the MHRD meeting.

Today on 22nd November, while agitation continues in JNU, a meeting of the MHRD committee was scheduled to take place. However, no official statement is out yet. On the other hand, 113 professors withdrew their support from JNUTA.
