Kamal Haasan pens a heartfelt note on Mani Ratnam's 67th birthday

With Nayakan , Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam together changed the shape of the Tamil film industry, back in 1987. Though they have not collaborated on further movies, the star actor and maestro filmmaker share a deep bond. Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan are also related as Haasan's niece Suhasini is married to the director. Today, as Mani Ratnam turned 67, the actor shared a heartfelt post.

Taking to the social media, Kamal Haasan wrote, "If one were to count life by the happiness that they create around them and if age is calculated by the friends around you, my dear #ManiRatnam you are going to be a much older man today! A doyen of Indian Cinema who has touched the hearts of millions through his art and one who transformed dialogues into a lovely visual experience."

He added, "You have constantly pushed the boundaries of cinema unmindful of the scale of challenge by constantly learning. Today you are a master inspiring the next generation of filmmakers through whom your legacy shall reverberate perpetually. From Nayakan to #KH234, our journey together has been personally rewarding and enriching for me. Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan are yet again collaborating after 34 years for the veteran actor's 234th film. Talking about it, Kamal had earlier said that he is eagerly looking forward to working with A R Rahman and Kamal Haasan. “I was equally excited 35 years before when I was about to start work with Mr. Mani Ratnam. Collaborating with a similar mindset is stimulating. This stimulation includes Mr. Rahman as well. Eagerly looking forward to presenting this venture with Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin.”

Kamal Haasan was last seen in the blockbuster Vikram, where he essayed the titular role. He is currently shooting for Indian 2 with Shankar and another project with Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan. On the other hand, Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 recently hit screens and received rave reviews.
