Kaniha shoots with VSP in Kodaikanal

Actress Kaniha of 5 Star fame will be seen in a key role in Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming musical thriller, directed by Venkata Krishna Roganth . The shoot of the film, which has Megha Akash as the female lead and director Magizh Thirumeni as the antagonist, is currently underway in Kodaikanal, where the actress’ portions are being shot.

“I wanted someone whom we haven’t seen on screen for a while for this particular role as that would add to the character’s impact. While Kaniha has been doing films in Malayalam, she hasn’t acted as much in Tamil. So, I felt she’d be right for this character, which will drive the story,” says Roganth, from Kodaikanal.

He adds that the role will not be a cameo but one that will appear throughout the film. While Kaniha had appeared in a cameo in Mani Ratnam’s 2015 film O Kadhal Kanmani, this one will mark her proper return to Tamil screens after the Ajith-starrer Varalaru, which released in 2006.

“For all those who always wanted me back in Tamil cinema… I’m back and happy to be sharing the screen with my most fav actor,” the actress has posted on her Facebook page. Sharing a pic of her with Vijay Sethupathi , she wrote, “Dream come true… Definitely happy moments for the actor and fan girl in me.”

Roganth adds that 50 per cent of the shoot has been completed, and the team will shoot in Chennai after this schedule
