Kanpur: Two girls charred to death in house fire

KANPUR: Two girls, aged 4 and 6 years, were charred to death after a fire broke out in a house in Chitaura village in Fatehpur district on Sunday.


The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained but it broke out from thatched roof shed, police said, adding that four goats also perished in the blaze.

Other family members were away for some work and only the two girls, Shweta (6) and her cousin Rajni (4), were present in the house at the time of the incident.

ADM, Fatehpur, Ashish Kumar Singh rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Officials said investigations were on and compensation would be provided to the family.
