Karnataka candidates to file nomination for Lok Sabha polls

Bengaluru: The notification for the Lok Sabha elections to be held in the first phase in Karnataka will be out on Tuesday (March 19) giving way for the filing of the nominations by candidates. And the candidates can start filing nominations from today. Elections will be held for 14 constituencies each in two phases.

The first phase of elections in Karnataka is on April 18. Polling will be held in 14 constituencies. The rest of the 14 constituencies will vote on April 23.

Constituencies in the first phase:

Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru South, Hassan, Udupi - Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Mandya, Mysur, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, and Kolar.

Constituencies in the second phase:

Vijayapur, kalaburagi, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Chikkodi, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Ballari, Haveri, Davanagere and Shivamogga. The last day to file nominations is March 26 for the first phase of election which will be held on April 18, nominations will be reviewed by March 27 and March 29 is the last date to withdraw nominations.

For the second phase of election nominations, notifications will be released on March 28 allowing candidates to file their nominations. The last date to file nominations is April 4 and the same will be reviewed by April 5. The last date to withdraw nominations is April 8. On May 23, Counting of votes will start and the results will be announced on the same day.
