Kasganj police arrest man for 'inflammatory FB post' after Ayodhya verdict

Agra: An alert from local social media cell of a volunteer group, helped Kasganj police to take prompt action against a man, who allegedly posted inflammatory post on Facebook, after Supreme Court pronounced its verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit on Saturday.

The man was tracked down and arrested within a few hours and the content was removed from the social media platform.



Identified as Ankur Mishra (29), owner of a local printing press and resident of Katra Raja Sahab, Patiyali police jurisdiction, the accused was charged under IPC sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 505 (statements conducing public mischief).

Speaking to TOI, superintendent of police Kasganj, Suhsil Ghule, said, “After an alert from local social media volunteer group, Patiyali police tracked the accused and arrested him. During interrogation, the man did not reveal the intention behind sharing the Facebook post.”

“Ankur Mishra was the only person from Kasganj who was booked on the day of the Ayodhya verdict,” he added.
