KDHP's Ripple White Tea wins global award

Kochi: Ripple White Tea , a product of KDHP Co Pvt Ltd (KDHP) in Munnar , which is an associate company of Tata Global Beverages Ltd, has bagged silver medal in ‘Global Tea Championship 2019 Fall Hot Loose Leaf Tea Competition’ held in the US.

Although ranked No. 1 in the competition held at Boulder, Colorado, in the loose/white tea category, the Ripple White Tea won the silver medal based on the points scored on a 100 point scale.

The Global Tea Championship is an independent competition, judged by industry professionals through an acclaimed and professional evaluation of best-tasting specialty teas of the highest quality. The judges evaluate hundreds of teas blind and score the teas through an organoleptic analysis that includes the analysis of dry leaf, liquor colour, aroma, flavour, and mouth feel, as well as overall harmony. The Ripple White Tea was rated as ‘beautiful leaf with exceptional flavour and exceptional aroma’, KDHP said in a statement. KDHP’s managing director and CEO K Mathew Abraham said that this award for Ripple white tea, which is produced from the finest selection of handpicked tea buds and retailed at Rs 12,000 per kg, is a vindication of the company’s concerted efforts in producing the finest specialty teas from its plantations spread across Munnar, ranging from an elevation of 4,000 feet to 7,200 feet.

Under the Ripple Tea brand, KDHP offers a range of specialty teas like Silver Tips, Green Tea Classic, Rose Tea, Kundale Organic, Chundavurrai Exotica and a range of flavoured teas, in addition to their traditional teas.

One of the largest producer and exporter in south India, KDHP produces 25 million kg of tea annually at 16 tea manufacturing facilities in Munnar.
