Kerala: Idukki Landslide Death Toll Climbs To 23. Rs 10 Lac Relief For Kozhikode Crash Deceased

Two disasters rocked Kerala in a span of just 48 hours. At least 23 bodies have been recovered so far from the debris of the landslide that flattened a row of 20 houses of tea estate workers in the high range Idukki district in Kerala. Efforts were underway amid continuing rains to locate those missing. More than 20 cm of extremely heavy rainfall was recorded in four places, including Peermade, which got the highest rainfall in the state on Friday at 26 cm.

Idukki, Munnar got 23 cm of rainfall each while Mananthavady recorded 21 cm.

Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced an interim relief of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the Air India plane crash. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan followed suit and also announced a relief of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased.
