Kerala: Kozhikode body directs company to complete parking plaza work by December

KOZHIKODE: City Corporation authorities in Kerala 's Kozhikode have directed the representatives of City-based Yennarees Infrastructures , entrusted with the construction work of parking plaza at railway station link road, to complete the construction work by December 2019. The civic body has made the cutoff date to commission the parking plaza by March 2020.





A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held between the corporation and the representatives of Yennarees Infrastructures recently to avoid further delay in the commissioning of the parking plaza at link road.

The civic body has given the ultimatum after the extension period sought by the company ended in June.

Though the first phase of the project was supposed to complete in March 2017, the delay occurred due to demonetisation drive and the time taken to acquire two cents of land situated adjacent to the project site caused delay for the completion of the work in the stipulated timeframe.

The construction work of the advanced parking plaza on the dissolved Calicut Development Authority (CDA) land was commenced on March 3, 2015.

The parking plaza-cum-commercial complex constructing at a cost of around Rs 8 crore on 23 cents of land on Built operate Transfer (BoT) basis can accommodate 90 four wheelers at a time. The parking plaza will be transferred to corporation after 33 years.

The civic body will able to resolve the existing traffic congestion at certain extend with the commissioning of the parking plaza at the link road. The corporation’s parking plazas to park four- and two-wheelers are situated at Arayidathupalam and AKG flyover near PVS Hospital.

Deputy mayor Meera Darshak said that the civic body gave them deadline to complete the work by December 2019. "Corporation plans to commission the parking plaza in either February or March," said the deputy mayor.
