Kerala: SFI develops Walk-in Sample Kiosk to fight Covid-19

MALAPPURAM: Students Federation of India( SFI) unit of MES engineering college, Kuttipuram developed Walk-in Sample Kiosk (WISK) to collect samples from those with Covid Symptoms and the kiosk was handed over to government district hospital, Tirur.

Sample collection can be done safely in less than two minutes using the Wisk.



According to KA Sakkeer who district secretary of Malappuram, the Walk in Simple Kiosk(WISK) was developed through 3-week long effort. The students were inspired from a facebook post on the successful experimentation of WISK which was shared by Kerala health minister K K Shylaja, they said.

The kiosk cost around Rs. 50000 and the fund was raised by SFIs alumni unit of the college.

The kiosk was developed by a team of students led by Muhsin Musthafa, Muhammed Shaluf, Jaseem V C, Hafiz V J, Habil Akbar.. National President of the organisation VP Sanu formally handed over the WISK Camp to Baby Lakshmi, superintendent of the Hospital. District president E Afsal, state committee member M Sajad, district vice president Muzammil, district secretariat member Manesh, district committee member Shahinshah, Jasir and Technos Joint Convener Shakeel , Hospital department superintendent Dr. V Vinod, Dr. Krishnadas, Anjita M and RMO Archana of Nursing Department were also present.
