Kidnap bid foiled in ICF

Chennai: The ICF police on Thursday night foiled a kidnap bid and rescued the victim from three people. While the main accused, identified as Mukesh, escaped, two others have been arrested.

Sub-inspector Yuvaraj of the ICF police station noticed a group of men quarrelling inside a moving car and intercepted the vehicle.

While three men escaped, he secured one person identified as Manikandan. Interrogation revealed that the three men had attempted to kidnap Manikandan of Ayanavaram. As he was kidnapped from Ayanavaram, he was handed over to the Ayanavaram police and an investigation was launched.

Police said Mukesh, a history-sheeter in the Red Hills police station, had been living with Latha for the past 20 years in Padi after the latter separated from her first husband. Latha has two daughters from her first marriage and one of them was married to Manikandan. Latha, who left Mukesh last week after a quarrel, went to her mother’s house in Ayanavaram. Mukesh along with his two friends came in search of her on Thursday night. He was furious as she was not there and picked up Manikandan.

“They allegedly beat him in the car and threatened him at knifepoint to know the whereabouts of Latha when their car was intercepted by Yuvaraj,” said police. TNN
