Kochi Metro crosses 1 L ridership

KOCHI: The Kochi Metro Rail limited's (KMRL) daily ridership crossed 1 lakh on Thursday breaking its earlier record of 99,680 passengers registered on September 7, 2019 after it launched the second stretch of the service from Maharaja's College to Thykoodam. The ridership of Metro on Thursday till 9.30pm was 1,01463.



The Metro had extended its last train till 11pm from September 10- 12 keeping in view of the Onam rush.

From September 3, till Wednesday, the total ridership stood at 6,73,934. The highest ridership recorded earlier before the launch of the new service was 98,310 on June 26, 2017- the first Sunday after the commissioning of the Metro.

The final figures recorded since the train service was extended to Thykoodam are: 39,936 (Sept 3-till 11 pm), 65,749 (Sept 4), 72,001 (Sept 5), 83,490 (Sept 6) 99,680 (Sept 7), 89,922 (Sept 8), 91,799 (Sept 9), 72,632 (Sept 10) and 65,382 (Sept 11). The tickets are being sold at 50% discount for the passengers as part of the launch of the extended service till Thykoodam.
