Kolar girl, 13, found hanging under mysterious conditions

BHOPAL: The body of a 13-year-old girl was found hanging under mysterious circumstances from a tree around 800 metres away from her house in Kolar’s Banjari area on Thursday morning. The deceased girl, Priya Pawar, belonged to Pardhi community and had around 4.5 feet height. She was found in sitting posture with the loop around her neck.

Police said that the doctors who conducted the postmortem said that there was no evidence of sexual assault. Although the deceased’s mother alleged that she was murdered and hanged, the cops maintained that it was suicide from “partial hanging”.

According to the police, the deceased was the daughter of Madhu Pawar, a resident of New Ambedkar Nagar in Kolar. She was a Class 2 student at a school run by an NGO working for the community. Police said that around 10:15 am, Kailash Yadav, who works as a watchman at a farmhouse in Banjari, spotted the minor girl hanging from a short tree in Banjari phase 1 near a private college at a desolated spot. Police reached the spot after receiving information and recovered the body. Half of the girl’s body was on the ground in sitting posture. The girl’s mother Sitara Bai told the cops that her father Madhu had gone to a relative’s house in Ashta around three days ago. Around 9 am, a water supply tanker reached their locality after which she and others got busy in filling water. Priya was at the house till 9 am and after that she went missing. She alleged that her daughter was murdered and then hanged.

SP Sampat Upadhyay said that the doctors who conducted the autopsy said that no evidence suggesting sexual assault was found and it was a case of suicide by partial hanging. Further investigations were on in case.
