Kolkata: Noapara-Bimanbandar metro work assumes momentum

KOLKATA: Works of Noapara - Bimanbander Metro Extension Project have been going on smoothly during the lockdown . Excavation of tunnel of this Metro project has been started. Base concrete of Grade M-20 for bottom slab of the tunnel has been completed recently while the casting work of the top slab is in progress.

Two numbers of PSC Box Girders of 20-22 m span have been safely unloaded with the help of a main crane of 600 MT capacity.

Casting of five numbers of PSC 1 girder of 20-22 m span has been completed.

Social distancing, sanitization , covering faces with masks, repeated hand washing and other safety protocol as issued by the Government of India are being meticulously followed at this project site by the staff.

During the lockdown, maintenance works of points and crossings have been going on meticulously. Regular cleaning of central drains in the tunnel and at platform areas has also been going on. Greasing of sharp curves and tightening of fittings in ballast less track has also been taken up. Trackmen have been carrying out daily patrol to ensure safety and fitness of the tracks.
