Kollam district hospital conducts first angioplasty

Kollam: The district hospital here successfully conducted angioplasty surgery for the first time at the newly set up cath lab.

Jaladharan,60, a native of Thekkevila in Kollam, who came to the hospital with severe chest pain on Monday late night, underwent the surgery as the left artery of his heart was found to be blocked completely.


As the cardiologist found it to be a serious case of cardiac arrest, angioplasty was performed.

Dr Bijesh; head nurse Shyni; staff nurses P A Anju, Shuhubanath, Vanaja Jessy, Arya V VS Anju; and cath lab technician Manoj were part of the team which conducted the surgery.

The team members were congratulated by health minister K K Shailaja, deputy DMO Dr Jayasankar and superintendent DrVasantha das.
