Koshi College facing acute faculty shortage

KHAGARIA: All is not well with Koshi College , Khagaria, a constituent unit of the newly-created Munger University, Munger.

The oldest centre of higher education spread over an area of 28 acres do not have the required number of teachers. According to college sources, everything is managed by only 18 teachers as against 54 sanctioned posts.



Acute shortage of teachers, lack of proper infrastructure, non-availability of common rooms and other recreation facilities, lack of equipment and suspension of postgraduate classes in the physics and history departments have made college life miserable for students.

Except the English department, botany, commerce, economics, mathematics and philosophy departments are being managed by only two teachers, while history, psychology, Hindi, zoology and urdu departments are being managed by a single teacher. There is no teacher in the physics, chemistry and political science departments.

Acting principal Dr SCR Chandel said he is in touch with university authorities for improving the academic atmosphere of the college and efforts are on for its all-round development.

Meanwhile, the institution is yet to be assessed by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
