Kota municipality chairman booked for abusing staff

Kota: Sangod municipality chairman of Kota district was booked for allegedly abusing and beating up a contractual sweeper of the municipality on Saturday evening. Police on Sunday initiated investigation into the matter and recorded statements of the victim and eye-witnesses.

“Devkinandan Rathore, the chairman was booked under Sections 341, 323, 504, 506 of IPC and under sections of SC/ST Act for manhandling Rajkumar Valmiki,” said Dhanraj Meena, SHO at Sangod police station.



The victim is a contractual sweeper in Sangod municipality. In his report, Rajkumar said that on Saturday as there was no one to help him, nor did he have any other equipment he was forced to tie a cow’s carcass to tractor-trolley and was taking it. A few cow vigilantes saw the carcass being dragged and informed Rathore who came to the spot and abused and attacked Rajkumar.

The incident was captured on someone’ mobile and the video was uploaded on social media sites. The SHO said that no arrest has been made in the matter till now and probe is on.

The video clip of the incident was removed from the sites and source of the same was blocked, he added. The matter has been handed over to DSP Rameshwar Parihar. tnn
