Kumari Selja blames BJP govt for joblessness

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Congress president Kumari Selja on Tuesday said the BJP had created an "economic anarchy" in the state, saying that this was behind shutting down of industries and loss of lakhs.

She said the salaried class in the state was now fearful and those who had been working for decades were now losing jobs.

"Under this directionless BJP government, thousands of factories started during the Congress regime in the state continue to shut down and production has been cut due to dwindling consumption and therefore falling demand," she added.

She said thousands of employees had been sacked at auto-maker Honda's plant in Manesar. "A few days ago, many workers were fired from a paints company based in Rewari. As part of its conspiracy, the government has locked thousands of factories in the name of causing pollution. Due to this, in just a fortnight, these industries have suffered majorly and have lost thousands of crores," she added.

Quoting HSIIDC data, Selja said foreign capital investment of Rs 1,086 crore was made in the state from 2009 to 2011.
