Kurukshetra court sentences three to life imprisonment for murder

KURUKSHETRA: In connection with a case of murder, the court of Kurukshetra additional and session judge (ASJ) Subhash Chandra Sirohi has convicted three accused and sentenced life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 25,000 each, told deputy district attorney Shashi Bhoria.

The convicts have been identified as Satpal Singh, his son Harpreet Singh and wife Mamta Devi who have been convicted under Section 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).



On December 6, 2017, the Jhansa police station of Kurukshetra received the information from LNJP Hospital that an unknown person is admitted who got seriously injured after being assaulted by the unknown accused and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The police reached the hospital and identified the person as Amit, a resident of Lalru in Mohali district of Punjab.

Following further investigation, the police registered a case of murder on the complaint of Amit’s father, Rampal. On December 6, 2017, Rampal stated, "My elder daughter was married at Thadoli village in Kurukshetra who had died 6-7 months ago. On December 5, 2017, my son Amit told that he received a call from his brother-in-law Ravi and he went to Thadoli and he stayed overnight there. On December 6, I received the information from the Bansh Lal, sarpanch of my village that my son has received some injuries and he is admitted in a Kurukshetra hospital. Later, I came to know that my son had gone to Satpal’s house in Rohti village along with Shivram of Bhagwasi village where they have assaulted my son on suspicion that he had come to Satpal’s place due to their daughter and they had threatened him of dire consequences. The accused Satpal, his son Harpreet and wife Mamta Devi assaulted my son due to which he died.”
