Law student found dead in hostel room in Cuttack

Cuttack: Mystery shrouds the death of a second year student of Madhusudan Law College in Cuttack whose body was found hanging inside the hostel room on Saturday night. The deceased, Ajit Kumar Sethi, hailed from Athmallik of Angul and was staying at the college hostel located at Rehman Chhak in Jobra area in Cuttack.

After spotting the body of Sethi hanging from the ceiling fan inside the hostel room, other batchmates raised an alarm and informed police.

Later, Sethi’s body was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital after the cops and forensic team reached the spot.
Though police have initiated a probe into the incident, it is still unclear whether Sethi committed suicide or there is any foul play behind his death.

“He (Sethi) was depressed a bit and often used to cry at nights. However, when Sethi did not open the door of his room in the hostel, I broke open in presence of a first year student. Later, police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter,” said Dilip Sahu, a batchmate of deceased.

Father of the deceased student, Babrubahan Sethi on the other hand feigned ignorance about the reasons behind his son resorting to such extreme.

“I am deeply saddened following the death of my son. I don’t know whether he was suffering from depression or not,” said Babrubahan.
