Leading lyricist Vangapandu Prasad Rao said goodbye to the world

Vizianagaram: Recently prominent lyricist Vangapandu Prasad Rao passed away. He was not well for some time. He died at his residence in Parvatipuram in Vijayanagar district on Tuesday morning. He, along with Gaddar and Nirmat and director B Narsing Rao, founded the 1972 Jan Natya Mandali. The Jan Natya Mandali became famous as the erstwhile People's War Cultural Cell.

Prasad Rao, with his folk songs, gave a new dimension to the village as well as the tribes.

He has written and sung hundreds of songs in his lifetime which people like. He was a prominent folk poet, singer, and actor of Telangana. He used to sing and dance by tying his legs to his feet. Em Pillado is one of his popular songs. He was popularly known as 'Vangapandu' in the northern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. In addition, he actively participated in the communist movement.

He was famous for his composition, singing, dancing, and acting. His revolutionary songs Yantrametta Nadudustundatte, Jajjenka Janare, Em Pillado, etc were still liked. At present, the President of Telangana Civil Rights Association Gaddam Laxman and Secretary N Narayan have mourned the death of lyricist Vangapandu Prasad Rao. Apart from this, he has expressed condolences for the bereaved family.
