Light rains in city plunge temp to below normal level

Ludhiana: As cloudy conditions prevailed in Ludhiana and it drizzled on Thursday as well, below normal day temperature was recorded in the city. The met department forecasts weather disturbance to continue for next at least three days. After rainfall activity on Wednesday, it was in cloudy in Ludhiana since Thursday morning and it drizzled as well before noon. It remained mostly cloudy in the afternoon as well.

As per the Met department, Ludhiana witnessed 9.4 millimetres of rainfall from 8.30am on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday whereas the rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Thursday was recorded at 1 mm.

The impact of cloudy weather and drizzle reflected on the maximum (day) temperature as it was recorded at 30.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.8 degrees less than normal and even 1.3 degrees less than a day before.

The minimum (night) temperature in city on Thursday was recorded at 23.2 degrees Celsius, which was 0.4 degrees more than normal and 1.8 degrees less than a day before.

As residents continue to enjoy pleasant weather in city on Thursday, the met department has more good news for them on the weather front.

Met officials said weather forecast for Ludhiana for Friday and Sunday is “partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thunder showers” and for Saturday it is “generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thunder showers”. They added that whereas night temperature is expected to fall in next four days, day temperature may rise in next two days.

The met department website predicts day temperature to rise to 32 degrees on Friday and fall to 31 degrees on Sunday before rising to 34 degrees till coming Tuesday whereas the night temperature is expected to decrease to 20 degrees till coming Monday.

Meanwhile, the residents continued to enjoy the pleasant weather prevailing in the city. “From hot and humid conditions till two days ago, the weather has taken a pleasant turn for us. There was a time in the morning when we didn’t even feel the need to use fan as we were not feeling the need to use it due to pleasant weather. I wish weather remains the same in the days to come,” said Rakesh Kumar , a trader from Chandigarh Road .
