Light Showers Likely In Odisha But May Not Play Spoilsport In Dussehra

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological department today predicted light to moderate rain in the State in the next 48 hours, however it assured that the rainfall activity might not dampen the festive spirit as people gear up for Dussehra rituals of Durga Puja.

Duty Officer of Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar Laxmikant Giri said that a cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha and the trough line extending from West Bengal up to foothills of the Himalayas is likely to trigger thunderstorm and rainfall at few places of Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda and Cuttack.

Even as the weatherman has issued thunderstorm and light to moderate rainfall warning for several districts today and tomorrow, he said that it might not affect Dussehra celebrations as rainfall activity will not last for long.

It may be noted that the monsoon activity continues to remain active in the State and major portion of the country even as September 30 is officially the end of India’s four-month monsoon season.
