Liquor scam in Haryana: More districts added, alliance government on receiving end

CHANDIGARH: As the new revelations related to theft, sale and smuggling of liquor are coming out from the state, this has put the Haryana’s Manohar Lal Khattar -Dushyant Chautala led BJP-JJP government on the receiving end.

Even the setting of Special Enquiry Committee (SEC) headed by senior bureaucrat T C Gupta has come under the fire of opposition parties.

After Kharkhoda in Sonipat and Samlakha in Panipat and Fatehabad and Yamunanagar now the seized liquor is found to have been stolen during lockdown in godowns of Rewari and Narnaul districts a swell.

According to information 2000 cases of liquor have been found to be missing from Rewari godown during the counting after lockdown. Similarly, in Narnaul 70 cases have been gone missing after the cops allegedly took with them on the pretext of getting the stocks destroyed.

Rewari deputy commissioner has sent his report to the excise and taxation headquarters in Chandigarh as well as in the office chief secretary as well..

While, Narnaul cops have started the investigations and report has been filed so far. Notably, it is more of JJP which has been put on the line of fire as the deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala heads the excise and taxation department.

Interestingly, in a new revelation, excise department officials have issued 426 permits or Covid-19 passes for the movement of trucks on March 26, a day after the department officially sealed all the liquor vends as well as the godowns for the purpose of sale and supply of liquor.

Adding more too embarrassment of JJP , former MLA who unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections on JJP ticket Satwinder Rana was arrested from the MLAs hostel area of sector 3 Chandigarh. It is learned that he had come to meet a senior leader of the ruling alliance to get a bail out in the case.

How can you expect a fair investigations or fair play on the part of Haryana government. Do they have any justification abbot issuance of permits by excise officials during lockdown as well as as delay in action into theft or mismatch of stocks at Fatehabad, Rewari and Narnaul. How will people trust their investigation when they set up SEC instead of SIT to probe allegations,’’ said senior Congress leader Kiran Choudhary.

While Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda, AICC spokesperson Randeep Surjewala have already termed the SEC as merely an eyewash.

DyCM Dushyant Chautala on Friday has cleared the stand of state government of fair probe into all the incidents.
