LK Advani arrives for stay at private resort in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: Senior BJP leader L K Advani reached a private resort here on Monday night on a six-day personal visit.

The 91-year-old former deputy prime minister reached here at 7.45pm accompanied by his daughter Pratibha through NH66 after he landed at Cial. He will leave the resort by September 8, police sources said.

In June 2017, Advani had stayed at a resort in Kumarakom during his four-day visit with daughter Pratibha and family friends. The nine-member group then had booked five villas facing Vembanad lake.

On June 7, 2017, when Advani was travelling to Kumarakom through NH66, he was stopped by the local police at Kutiyathodu, fearing protests by CPM activists. He had then spent around 15 minutes at Kutiyathodu circle inspector office. He was stopped by the police as they feared protests by CPM men on his way in the wake of an attack on CPM leader SitaramYechury in his Delhi office during a press conference in 2017.

Police had arranged tight security for Advani on his route to the resort from Monday morning.
