Lockdown 4.0: New guidelines for vehicles plying between Delhi, Noida

The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has issued fresh instruction for vehicles traveling between Delhi and Noida in the time of the lockdown 4.0 that has been stretched out till 31st May.

In a statement put out by the authority, it stated that the Delhi-Noida border will carry on being sealed besides for movement of people linked with exempted services.

This order will one more time impede vehicular movement between the borders till the end of the month.

This comes days after the lockdown was prolonged with reviewed guidelines from 18th May. At first vehicles were permitted for people going for work to the NCR region. But, for the past few days, the DND Flyover and Kalandi Kunj have witnessed major traffic snarls causing long queues to enter/exit these borders.

One of the main reasons for the traffic snarls was because the police were asking for passes from motorists. Noida administration has been firm while allowing entry of vehicles from the national capital. E-passed given by the DM’s office was the only way to get past the barricades.

A senior Uttar Pradesh Police personnel was quoted by PTI saying, "We are checking every vehicle but sometimes it becomes very difficult due to the numbers of vehicles. People with valid passes are being allowed. However, if someone does not have a pass and is carrying some important items like medicine, they are also being allowed."

Taking to Twitter, the Delhi Traffic Police notified commuters travelling to Noida to plan their trip only if their vehicles have passes issued by the authorities concerned.

"As UP police is allowing entry to Noida only for vehicle heaving movement pass issued by DM Noida. People travelling from Delhi to Noida using Kalindi Kunj barrage flyover and DND flyover may plan their trip accordingly," Delhi Police tweeted.

The order put out by the administration has also reviewed guidelines on movement of vehicles. It said that unlike previous lockdowns, two people would be allowed on a two-wheeler in case one of them is a female. However, it also said that wearing a helmet will be compulsory for both.

In four-wheelers, two people besides the driver will be permitted. Up to two kids will be allowed to travel in a car additionally, it stated. On a three-wheeler, two people besides a driver will be allowed and all of them have to cover their faces with masks.
