Lok Sabha elections: Ab ki baar 300 paar, PM Modi says in Khargone

INDORE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended his campaign in Madhya Pradesh with a big bang rally in Khargone , saying NDA will win over 300 seats.

“I have been hearing a new slogan now. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari , from Kutch to Kamrup, the whole nation is saying, ‘Ab ki baar, 300 paar, phir ek baar Modi sarkar’,” PM Modi said, urging the crowd to repeat the slogan after him.

Modi, who started the day with a campaign in Meerut, claimed that the UP city has a historic connection with Khargone. “When soldiers blew the bugle of freedom struggle in 1857, tribal leader Bhima Nayak started the tribal movement in Khargone,” he said, lauding former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan for building a memorial in the name of Nayak.

He reiterated his narrative of a “decisive government” — one that “dares kill terrorists in their safe havens”. Modi said he was aware of the nationalistic sentiments of tribal leaders, many of whom join the Indian Army. He alleged that Congress-backed Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy had insulted Armymen.

Without naming Kumaraswamy, Modi said, “The CM said people who don't get enough food two times a day go to the Army. Is this not an insult of our children, insult of tribals, insult to brave mothers and insult to our Army? Arre Congress ke chele chapaton aur unke sathiyon (Congress’s followers and allies), what language are you using?” “When my tribal child stands at the border, he is not there to eat roti, but he is ready for taking a bullet. Not for his own dreams, he lays his life for the country’s dreams,” he remarked, adding that no one will vote for Congress for the 100 years after hearing the statement. “And till now, Congress has not dared to say that they have nothing to do with the statement,” Modi said.

On April 12, Kumaraswamy had said: “Those who defend our borders may not be born to the rich and many youngsters who join the forces are those who struggle to get two square meals or a job and our PM is playing with their lives.” On Friday, the PM said: “The country has rejected Congress’s strategy of seeking votes on issues like cutting down special powers of the Army and removing laws on sedition. The country is united on the fact that those who are demanding a separate Prime Minster for Jammu and Kashmir should be given strictest punishment in this election.”
