Lok Sabha elections: Gujarat BJP panel meeting ends

The three-day Gujarat BJP parliamentary board meeting ended on Tuesday after discussions ended on likely candidates for the final four Lok Sabha seats. The Gujarat BJP will now send a report containing panels of four names for each seat to the BJP’s central parliamentary board. The state parliamentary board did not propose any name for the Gandhinagar seat, which is presently represented by BJP veteran L K Advani.

The state unit did not propose Advani’s name and said that it will accept any national leader as the candidate for Gandhinagar.

On Tuesday, candidates for the Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh and Kutch seats were discussed.

While Mohan Kundariya is the sitting MP from Rajkot, Dhanshukh Bhanderi, Dr Bharat Boghra, Khodaldham trustee Paresh Gajera and several others have demanded the Rajkot ticket.

In Porbandar, sitting MP Vitthal Radadia has declined to contest due to his poor health but demanded the ticket for his son, Lalit Radadia. Former minister Jashuben Korat and local leader Mansukh Khakharia have also demanded the Porbandar ticket.

For the Junagadh seat, besides sitting MP Rajesh Chudasama, former Junagadh mayor Jyoti Vachani and few other have demanded the ticket.

For the Kutch seat, along with sitting MP Vinod Chavda, Naresh Maheshwari and several state-level Dalit leaders have demanded the ticket.
