Lok Sabha elections: Special drives add five lakh voters in Maharashtra

MUMBAI: The Election Commission’s special drives on February 23 and 24, and again on March 1 and 2 have added 5 lakh voters in the state. Number of voters in Maharashtra has now touched 8.75 crore, of which 4.57 crore are men and 4.16 crore are women. Last date for registering as a voter is March 30 in Mumbai and neighbouring regions.




Thane with 23 lakh voters has the largest number of voters in the state. The Ratnagiri-Sindhdurga seat has more women voters than male voters. Of the 14.4 lakh voters, 7.35 lakh voters are women here, according to a government press release.

In the six Mumbai constituencies, the break-up is as follows: Mumbai North (16.07 lakh voters), Mumbai North-West

(16.97 lakh voters), Mumbai North East (15.58 lakh voters), Mumbai North-Central (16.47 lakh voters), Mumbai South Central (14.15 lakh voters) and Mumbai South (15.31 lakh voters), said the press release.

Nandurbar, Gadchiroli-Chimur, Dindori and Palghar seats have been reserved for STs while Amravati, Ramtek, Shirdi, Latur and Solapur for SCs.
