'Lord Hanuman' In Police Custody In Patna After Devotees Fight Over Its Installation

There's been a 'divine intervention' at a police station in Bihar, and the police had no choice but to take in to custody an idol of lord Hanuman in order to settle a fight between devotees.

The fight broke out over installation of the life-sized idol's placement, and it was lord Hanuman who came to the rescue yet again. The idol meanwhile ended up in police custody in a village in Bihar, Vaishali district.

The idol was reportedly installed on on “disputed land”--belonging to Ram Janki Math at Panapur Gaurahi village--by a group of devotees belonging to the Scheduled Caste.

“Two rival groups had clashed over the installation of the statue of Lord Hanuman at the village. As tension was running high in the area and it would have created law and order problem, we thought it better to take possession of the statue,” Sadar police station SHO Rohan Kumar told TOI.

A set of devotees from the so-called 'upper caste' allegedly objected to the installation of the idol on the “disputed" site following which the idol was removed.

“Installation of any statue or temple on public land is banned as per Supreme Court ruling. Hence action was initiated and the statue of Lord Hanuman was taken into custody."
