LSP-BSP may announce all nominees in 10 days

KURUKSHETRA: The BSP-LSP alliance is going to announce all of its candidates for the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana within 10 days, according to a BSP leader.

The BSP will contest from eight of the 10 parliamentary seats in Haryana, while its ally Loktantra Suraksha Party will fight from two constituencies, according to BSP Haryana chief Prakash Bharti.

As per sources, LSP chief Raj Kumar Saini and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati are going to conduct rallies in Sonipat and Bhiwani-Mahendergarh areas in near future. When it comes to the seats that parties will fight, the LSP is going to contest from the Jat-dominated seat of Bhiwani-Mahendergarh. Though there is no decision on the second seat, LSP is expected to field a nominee from Kurukshetra , from where Saini is the outgoing MP.

The BSP will contest the remaining seats.

Bharti told TOI that after a meeting with Mayawati last week, LSP national youth president Ramesh Rao Pilot was announced as the candidate from Bhiwani-Mahedragarh seat. “At this moment, our talks are ongoing. Remaining 8 seats would be contested by BSP. Last week, we had announced our former state president Naresh Saran as the candidate from Ambala (SC reserved) constituency. The list of other candidates would be released in 10 days,” he said.

Sources in the two parties said the seat-sharing formula was finalised in a meeting with Mayawati. For the state assembly elections, LSP could contest from 55 seats and BSP from 35, but nothing has been finalised.

The tie-up is expected to field a candidate of the Saini community from Kurukshetra.
