Ludhiana: Interstate gang of vehicle thieves busted by Khanna police

LUDHIANA: Khanna police busted an interstate gang of car thieves who used to sell the spare parts of the stolen vehicles . The police claimed that the gang had stolen twelve cars and five motorcycles in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.



Giving details, SP Investigating Khanna, Jasvir Singh , on Friday said that as part of special campaign against bad elements, a police party was present at T-point in Village Manakmajra on Thursday evening in connection with a case of motorcycle theft registered in Khanna city one police station on 12 August.

He added that during checking, police stopped a motorcycle with two riders and found that the motorcycle had a fake number plate .

Police officials identified the duo as Major Singh of village Manakmajra in Khanna and Amninder Singh of village Fatehgarh Niuyan district Fatehgarh Sahib. During questioning they disclosed the name of their third accomplice Jeet Singh of Village Manakmajra.

Police said that during investigation, the accused divulged that they had rented a godown in the Fatehgarh Niuyan village of Kheri Naudh Singh in Fatehgarh Sahib district, which they were using as workshop, where they would disable the vehicles and cut off their spare parts to sell them.

During investigation, police came to know that the accused had committed seventeen thefts (12 cars and 5 motorcycles) in the various districts including Patiala, Naina Devi area of Himachal Pradesh etc.
