Ludhiana: Man escapes with SUV on pretext of test drive

LUDHIANA: An unidentified miscreant drove away a Hyundai Creta car impersonating as a customer from Bharat Nagar Chowk . The accused asked for a drive before buying the car and never returned.

The complainant lodged a complaint with police after which the Division number 5 police registered a case against unidentified accused under section of 420 (cheating) of IPC.



In his complaint to police, Yogesh Bansal , 48 of Bharat Nagar chowk said that he is a second-hand car dealer and runs his business form Bharat Nagar. On November 9 the accused came to him and wished to purchase a Hyundai Creata car. Yogesh told accused that he does not have car at present but will get him next day. The accused then left saying that he would come next day.

However, accused did not return the next day. On Tuesday, the accused came again to Yogesh and asked for the same car.

Yogesh immediately called his friend Amit Sharma who is also a car dealer. On his request, Amit sent a white colour Hyundai Creta car with driver Gurpreet Singh. On seeing the car, the accused asked Gurpreet for a ride. The driver handed over the key to him, after which the accused never returned.

On Monday evening a complaint was lodged with police.

Sub-inspector Richa, SHO at police station Division number 5 said that, the complainant initially stated that the accused already purchased two cars from him, almost an year ago. Therefore, he trusted him and allowed him to take the car for ride, alone. However, when he asked for documents of previous purchases, to identify accused, Bansal failed to present any documents. The complainant does not even know the name of accused.

Sub-inspector added that, one CCTV has captured car moving towards Bharat Nagar Chowk but could not be traced after that. A CCTV installed at complainant’s officer, has captured the suspect and the police is now circulating his pictures to trace him.
