Lured by fake scheme, man duped of Rs 9.65 lakh

LUCKNOW: A government employee was allegedly duped of Rs 9.65 lakh by a businessman who lured him with a fake investment scheme with attractive returns in Indiranagar . The complainant, Sant Lal, is a resident of Jankipuram and works in a government department.


In his complaint, Lal has alleged that he came in contact with the accused businessman Ram Sharan Agarwal through a friend in 2017.

Agarwal convinced Lal to invest in his trading firm located in Lekhraj Complex across Faizabad Road in Indiranagar.

“In December, 2017, I deposited Rs 25,000 in his firm and he promised me an 8% interest return. I continued to invest money in his firm. On April 27, 2018, I deposited Rs 2.50 lakh,” Lal said.

He said that since December, 2017 he had deposited Rs 9.65 lakh in Agarwal’s company. “However, soon after I deposited the money in December, 2018, Agarwal started avoiding me and stopped taking my calls,” Lal told the police The complainant said that when he went to Lekhraj Complex to meet Agarwal and collect the interest, he found that the company was closed.

Station house officer of Ghazipur police station, Brijesh Singh, said an FIR had been registered against Agarwal.
