Madurai: Compulsory retirement for 3 cops

Three police constables Elangovan, Balamurugan and Senthilkumar attached with the Madurai city police who were caught taking bribe from the public during vehicle inspection during the year 2017 have been sent on compulsory retirement by city police commissioner Davidson Devasirvatham.

Mugilan, who was booked for taking part in the jallikattu protest at Alanganallur in Madurai in 2017, who was produced at the JM-II court in Madurai with police protection for the hearing of the case on Thursday. Since, two more people did not appeared before the court, the case was adjourned to a further date.

Madurai HC bench gets new electric mopping machines:

Two battery operated eco-friendly electronic mopping machines worth Rs 16.5 lakh were purchased for the Madurai bench of the Madras high court. Administrative judge Justice T S Sivagnanam inaugurated the machines in the presence of other judges, registrars and advocates. Justice Sivagnanam also commissioned one wire stitching machine to stitch voluminous copies of judgements. The stitching machine was brought to the Current Section from the Government Branch Press in the court.

New office bearers for MADITSSIA:

B Muruganandham was unanimously elected as the president of the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) at their 45th annual general body meeting here, on Thursday. He will hold the post for a period of two years (2019-21). The other office bearers who were also unanimously elected are A K B Navas Babu and Rm Lakshminarayanan (vice presidents), M S Sampath (honorary secretary), D Balaganesh (treasurer) and M Chandrasekaran (joint secretary).
