Mahakaal ashes to be sent to Ayodhya

UJJAIN: Ashes offered to Lord Mahakaleshwar during Bhasmaarti and water from the Kshipra river in Ujjain will be offered during foundation stone laying ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5.


The ashes were collected by Vishwa Hindu Parishad Malwa state organization secretary Nanda Dandotia from Mahanirvani Akhara Mahant Vinit Giri.

Mahant Giri said that prayers were offered before the ashes were handed over to VHP leaders.

The leaders also collected water from the Kshipra river and soil from Ujjain as part of offering during the foundation stone laying ceremony in Ayodhya.

VHP leader Mahesh Tiwari said the donations for Ram temple construction were being sent from different parts of the country. Lord Rama, during his stay in the forests, had visited Ujjain and offered prayers at Mahakaleshwar temple. A ghat on the banks of the Kshipra river is ,also called Ram Ghat. As per the scriptures, Lord Hanuman had also visited Ujjain to collect holy water from the Kshipra river for Ashwamedha Yagya performed by Lord Ram, he said.
